With ambitions to launch new products and grow existing ones, the number of Zopa customers will be scaling rapidly! As we acquire more and more customers, we need to manage the fraud and financial crime risks that this brings. That's where Zopa's Customer Screening team comes in - the team's north star is to screen and detect bad actors, while maintaining a smooth and low-friction customer experience for others.
If you're interested in a role that has the breadth of thinking company-wide across all of Zopa's products, with the opportunity to go deep on different fraud and financial crime typologies and controls, this one's for you!

A day in the life:

  • Own customer screening end-to-end - from collaborating with fraud and financial crime subject matter experts to optimizing customer experience, from working with engineering teams to considering downstream operational impacts
  • Drive strategic innovation - think creatively about improving our screening approach to detect threats more efficiently and effectively while reducing customer friction
  • Shape the roadmap - understand the Customer Screening strategy and create a comprehensive roadmap that balances risk mitigation, customer experience, and business growth objectives
  • Make critical prioritization decisions - balance competing demands across customer experience, risk appetite, commercial impact, and operational capacity to move key metrics forward
  • Lead cross-functional alignment - navigate complex stakeholder relationships, ensure alignment across teams, own delivery risks, and drive execution to successful outcomes
  • Support all Zopa products - work with a broad stakeholder group as your screening solutions protect customers across Zopa's entire product portfolio
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats - monitor fraud trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to ensure our defenses evolve with the threat landscape

About you:

  • Product management background - proven experience in product management, particularly with backend services and complex technical systems
  • Detail-oriented problem solver - strong attention to detail with ability to navigate complex, regulated domains and make sense of intricate business requirements
  • Cross-functional collaboration - demonstrated success working in cross-functional squads and extracting the best insights from diverse team perspectives
  • Data-driven decision making - ability to synthesize multiple sources of data, user feedback, and business insight into clear, actionable product decisions
  • Bias toward action - preference for shipping iterative solutions and learning from real-world results rather than endless analysis
  • Incremental value delivery - proven track record of breaking down complex initiatives into deliverable increments that unlock value progressively
  • Influence without authority - strong stakeholder management skills with ability to build consensus and drive adoption across the organization
  • Highly desirable:
  • Experience in financial services, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with machine learning models and risk scoring systems
  • Understanding of KYC/AML regulations and industry compliance requirements
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
We're on the move!
Towards the end of 2025 Zopa will be relocating to a brand-new headquarters at 20 Water Street in Canary Wharf. The 44,000 square foot workspace will foster collaboration and inspire creativity for our 900 employees amidst our 2025 growth blitz.

We value face-to-face collaboration and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week.
