A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward. We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces.

The Role
We’re looking for Associate Software Engineers to join our talented engineering team. We’re hiring across multiple teams, so you could be working on our new Current Account product, in our Payments team, or building the essential tools used by our Customer Service agents.
You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers who care deeply about writing quality code, building resilient systems, and creating meaningful financial products that impact thousands of people every day. You’ll be working in a small, agile team with plenty of opportunities to learn from and exchange knowledge with your colleagues. The team has a flat structure, so you’ll be taking an active role in design and decision making within the team as we look to meet the challenges of evolving as a bank.
Why Zopa?
At Zopa, we’re dedicated to supporting your growth from day one. You’ll be part of our Associate Software Engineer Guild — a vibrant community of graduates and career switchers who are building their engineering careers together through collaboration and shared learning. We offer a strong mentor system to guide you, alongside a Learning and Development budget to invest in courses, certifications, and personal growth. With clear progression frameworks and an inclusive environment focused on psychological safety, you’ll have everything you need to thrive, learn confidently, and take ownership of your career journey at Zopa.
About you:
- Some experience with any programming language or personal projects that demonstrate your passion for coding
- Eagerness to learn, grow and develop professionally in software engineering
- Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude
- Basic understanding of software development principles and best practices
- An interest in financial services and a desire to build products that make a difference
- Ideally, familiarity with Java, Kotlin, or similar languages (but not essential)
