We're looking for a Director of Financial Reporting to work closely with the Group Finance Director and oversee all aspects of financial control, reporting, tax, technical accounting, and accounts payable. This role leads a large team and manages key relationships with external auditors and the Board Audit Committee.

A day in the life:

  • Lead the strategy and operations for Financial Control & Reporting.
  • Oversee financial, statutory, corporate, and ESG reporting, tax, and technical accounting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
  • Optimise legal entity and tax structures, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Manage risk and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
  • Advise on financial matters, support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Represent Finance in governance forums including IFRS 9, ESG Steering, and Disclosures Committee.
  • Manage the Audit Committee relationship and support external reporting as a public interest entity.
  • Drive automation, scalability, and readiness for IPO and public reporting.
  • Lead external auditor and advisor relationships, supporting CFO where needed.
  • Develop and lead the finance team, fostering growth and best practice.
  • Liaise across departments (e.g., Treasury, Risk) and stay current with industry developments.
  • Deputise for the Group Finance Director as required.

About you:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, etc.) demonstratable experience, particularly in a senior role.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulation, and tax.
  • Solid understanding of retail banking and broader financial services.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Proven leader with the gravitas to engage senior stakeholders and the Board.
  • Independent thinker with excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Towards the end of 2025 Zopa will be relocating to a brand-new headquarters at 20 Water Street in Canary Wharf. The 44,000 square foot workspace will foster collaboration and inspire creativity for our 900 employees amidst our 2025 growth blitz.
