Yay Lunch is out to fundamentally change school food for the better. We are a digital school food marketplace, connecting schools to wonderful local food makers within their own communities to get fresher, healthier, more delicious and more diverse food to kids everyday.

About the Role:

As the People Operations Generalist, you will be responsible for developing and executing people-oriented programs that support the Yay Lunch culture, values, brand, and team engagement across our various teams. You will also support the employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance management, and offboarding. This is a remote position, however you must currently reside in an active Yay market (Atlanta, Raleigh/Durham, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia or Chicago).

You will:

Support Team Engagement and Employee Experience

  • Develop, document, and train managers on the company’s onboarding and orientation program, making changes and improvements as necessary
  • Develop and coordinate team member morale and appropriate engagement activities across all teams (both in-person and remote)
  • Use data from employee engagement surveys, entrance and exit interviews to make improvements and recommendations to the employee experience
  • Work with the marketing team to support our brand and culture strategy, owning and updating the recruitment social media sites (e.g.Indeed, Glassdoor, LinkedIn)
  • Plan company events to foster training and team-building
  • Advance our remote working benefits and policies to create a best-in-class remote culture that is motivating, productive, and enjoyable

Support People Team Processes:

  • Full-cycle recruiting for all corporate team positions
  • Guide both new hires and hiring managers during the onboarding process, ensuring that managers develop their onboarding plans and orientation is scheduled
  • Conduct new hire orientation, ensuring that employee records are up to date in the HRIS system, enroll/term team members into benefits, process I-9 and E-verify, and lead the offboarding process
  • Set up team accounts for corporate team members (e.g. Google Workspace and Slack)
  • Support Lunch Coordinator retention strategies
  • Support both the People Team and Operations departments during school launches and be available for travel to each region

You must have:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in human resources, open to reviewing candidates with office management experience who have a focus on human resources, employee experience, and morale and team engagement
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience
  • Good understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment / labor laws
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a preference in Human Resources, Psychology, Business
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus
  • Prior startup experience or remote environment experience is a plus

  • A team-player with the ability to roll up your sleeves and support people team initiatives and projects
