The role of the at Lex is to be a hands-on builder, coder and team leader. You’ll be collaborating with teammates to ship high performing product features and shape engineering team organization & processes.
The Role
We’re looking for an Head of Engineering with experience building consumer apps across the stack to join our team. As the leader of the engineering team you'll collaborate directly with the head of product and lead the engineering teams to understand, build, and test new product features from conception to roll out. Every week you'll ship new experiences to hundreds of thousands of users and see the impact directly.

Who You Are
You’re ready to get your hands dirty writing code and ship on a daily/weekly basis. You think quickly & collaboratively, and bring lots of creative ideas to consumer social apps.
You’re an energetic, positive-thinker and comfortable adapting to change in a seed-stage startup environment. You push the team to meet company objectives.
You’ll work closely with Head of Product, CEO, COO and the engineering team to make high-level architecture designs.
You’re respectful, kind, and open to teammates ideas. You’re comfortable with change and want to do what is best for the team, product and company.
You enjoy leading a small team towards building engaging, impactful consumer apps. You like to to drive good design and architecture, know how to execute complex projects, and love mentoring and training other developers.
You’re highly capable of resolving complex issues in creative and effective ways and conduct in-depth evaluation of situations/data and present new solutions
You’re familiar with current business and technology trends
What You'll Do
You'll be leading the Lex Engineering team in designing, building, and ensuring the high quality of the Lex mobile app
You’ll be managing, hiring and retaining engineering talent in a highly competitive market, we are a 100% remote team.
You’ll communicate and implement best practices across the engineering team
You’ll identify problems and provide solutions to issues across the product and team, and come prepared with Plan B, C, D as needed.
You’ll navigate a rapidly changing market demands and incorporating feedback from users and stakeholders.
How we’ll be working together:
You’ll need to be comfortable with remote work, have great team spirit, possess knowledge and passion about queer culture
You’ll be part of a small startup team that works hard to be inclusive, intersectional and collaborative.
You should be comfortable with change, able to pivot quickly and creatively problem solve.
Your manager will be the CEO and you’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Product
This will be a 100% remote role, based in the US. Must work in either EST, CST, PST timezones.
What we value:
You have 5+ years experience building and scaling high-quality, maintainable, products from the client to the server.
You appreciate good design and you get excited to translate that into functional experiences that people use every day.
You are a product thinker who loves thinking about how technology can best be used to enhance peoples' lives.
You are comfortable working across the stack, and you enjoy building features, as well as designing and scaling architecture.
You love what you do - you love using your technical skillset and knowledge to create well-crafted products that create meaningful value for people.

Bonus:
You have experience working on consumer technology products.
You have experienced in scaling products, from seed stage to beyond
NYC preferred but not required. Lex is based in NYC – the team works remotely in LA and Seattle as well.
