About the Role
Here at LendingClub as a Sr Software Engineer, you’ll work on the platform that is transforming the banking industry. We’re looking for talented Software Engineers passionate about building new applications from the ground up and who will join a growing team in developing the products that allow our borrowers and investors to achieve their financial goals. The technology teams move fast, celebrate great ideas, inspire testing and learning, and stretch for new solutions.What You'll Do
- Actively participates and can lead code reviews, providing authoritative feedback
- Writes technical stories to address implementation and tech debt
- Drives the triage of production issues and leads RCA documentation
- Writes code for medium to large features independently
- Actively participates in team design discussions and architectural decisions
- Leads spikes: does basic technical research and gathers the right people within LC
- Implement and document new software components
- Understand how code fits into broader technical and/or business context
- Capable of working on medium projects independently, and large projects with supervision
- Debugs effectively within their primary area to help find root cause
- Leaves code in better shape than before
- Ensure high testability and quality of delivered software
- Work with QA and Operations teams to troubleshoot and fix defects in software
- Help mentor junior software engineers
About You
- 6+ years of experience, bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field of study; or equivalent work experience
- You have experience working with agile methodology, test-driven development, source control management, and automated testing
- You have demonstrated experience with Java, Scala, and Web services
- You have experience in designing, building, and maintaining RESTful web services and microservices architectures
- Proven experience in Banking and Payments Domain
- In-depth knowledge of payment systems (e.g., Card payments, ACH, Wire Transfers, SWIFT), as well as payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, Square, PayPal)
- You have strong scripting skills (Shell, Perl, Python, etc.) and database skills (Postgres, MySQL)
- You can translate a user story in to modular, maintainable code in at least one major programming language
- You understand how code fits into broader technical and/or business context
- You have strong ownership and knowledge of features within a domain
- You are able to identify tech debt and make recommendations of reduction
- You have active awareness of application security concerns
- You can articulate design trade-offs and provide thoughtful evaluation of solutions
- You are knowledgeable with application security concerns

Work Location

We are currently working a hybrid schedule and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 175,000-207,000. The position is also eligible to receive a bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings), equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges, other compensation and benefits offered are determined by role, experience level and location.
