Senior Guidance, Navigation and Controls Engineer:

Intramotev is seeking Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineers to join the development team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. The role will be focused on developing innovative automation and control systems for self-propelled rail vehicles. The successful candidate will be a member / mentor / coach of the development team responsible for designing and developing software to generate safe, efficient, and reliable trajectories for rail vehicles. The development of these capabilities includes multidisciplinary skills: architecture and systems development, integration, and testing.

This position will be based out of St. Louis, MO. This position involves working in a dynamic team environment on small to medium (3-6) person projects where excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed. Due to the dynamic nature of the work, project objectives and requirements are likely to evolve over the course of the role. A small amount of domestic travel to support integration, demonstration and customer engagement will be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and validate control systems and automation technologies to operate on vehicle guidance, navigation, and control systems
  • Design, test, and develop navigation and control algorithms developed using model-based design in Matlab/Simulink to be run on embedded real-time platforms
  • Design global and local motion planners for safety-critical systems
  • Design motion planners that can adapt global trajectories to local constraints
  • Local trajectory optimization and time parameterization
  • Support customer networks including deployment, handover and ongoing support throughout the system lifecycle
  • Research technological advancements for potential application to company business needs
  • Make recommendations for technology investments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science
  • 1-2+ years of experience leading/managing a team of engineers
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems
  • Experience in Model-based System Design in MATLAB/Simulink environment
  • Motivated, detail-oriented
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided)
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3-5+ years of experience working with Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems for autonomous vehicles or platforms
  • Experience with trajectory optimization algorithms
  • Experience with search-based planners
  • Experience with Modem and Optimal Control theory
  • Experience or coursework with Kalman Filter design, estimation techniques
  • Experience with code generation in Matlab / Simulink

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience.
