Diamond Age is headquartered in Phoenix, building homes throughout Arizona, with regional and national expansion plans in the next 24 months.
We are looking for an excellent Mechatronics Engineer to join our engineering team. You will be part of an extremely small, tight-knit team that spans across many disciplines. As such you will be able to make an immediate, large impact at an innovative company looking to change the way homes are built.

Responsibilities:

  • Support field operations
  • Identify and resolve issues with equipment
  • Develop and implement improvement projects for equipment
  • Lead research, concept generation, prototyping, testing, detail design, validation & verification, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Specify and source components

Requirements:

  • Clear grasp and understanding of the 1st principle physics of mechatronics system – loads, forces, current, voltage and overall function of the system, and the tradeoffs among design, package, function, and customer experience involved with these systems
  • Experience in mechanism design (planning, modeling, verification), hands-on skills (prototyping, fabrication, testing), and/or analysis (static, dynamic, thermal)
  • Ability to write maintainable code that allows a system to perceive and interact with its environment (via embedded processor, PLC or computer system), interact with users, or manage data on the backend (API dev, database management). Modeling and describing physical systems in mathematics and code is particularly useful in many robotics programs
  • End-to-end product design/development from prototyping to mass production experience
  • 3D CAD Experience (Solidworks preferred)
  • 2D drawings experience
  • Comfortable making assumptions and doing hand calculations for quick verification of designs/concepts
  • Ability to defend design decisions quickly and effectively
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvements to equipment
  • Enjoys building their designs (hands on)
  • Desire to learn and be an important contributor to the team
  • Experience working on a cross functional team
  • Proven effective communication with cross functional teams

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • FEA experience
  • Experience designing structures
  • Experience with fatigue analysis
  • Experience manufacturing parts (mill, lathe, welding, etc.)
  • -or-
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes used to fabricate components
  • Knowledgeable of various materials (e.g., metals, engineering plastics, composites) and their properties as it pertains to selection for component design
  • Experience working in a factory environment
