We are looking for excellent Mechanical Design Engineers to join our engineering team. You will be part of an extremely small, tight-knit team that spans across many disciplines. As such you will be able to make an immediate, large impact at an innovative company looking to change the way homes are built.
Responsibilities:
- Support field operations
- Identify and resolve issues with equipment
- Develop and implement improvement projects for equipment
- Full life cycle ownership of equipment (blank paper thru drop off at recycling yard)
- Lead research, concept generation, prototyping, testing, detail design, validation & verification, and continuous improvement efforts
- Develop process flows
- Specify and source components
Requirements:
- Solid grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals
- 3D CAD Experience (Solidworks preferred)
- 2D drawings experience
- Comfortable making assumptions and doing hand calculations for quick verification of designs/concepts
- Ability to defend design decisions quickly and effectively
- Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvements to equipment
- Enjoys building their designs (hands on)
- Desire to learn and be an important contributor to the team
- Experience working on a cross functional team
- Proven effective communication with cross functional teams
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- FEA experience
- Experience designing structures
- Experience with fatigue analysis
- Experience manufacturing parts (mill, lathe, welding, etc.)
- -or-
- Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes used to fabricate components
- Knowledgeable of various materials (e.g., metals, engineering plastics, composites) and their properties as it pertains to selection for component design
- Experience working in a factory environment
