Associate People & Culture Business Partner

Please note this is a 100% onsite role in our NYC office (HQ - Union Square).

As an Associate People & Culture Business Partner (ABP), you will serve as a partner for our business clients, working side by side with each team and the Senior People and Culture Business Partner to ensure people and business objectives are aligned for the success of both.

You will play a critical role in providing support and coaching to both our business leaders and employee base. You will be instrumental in building our growing company and People & Culture function, championing our values and ensuring that Compass is a great place to come to work everyday.

At Compass You Will:

  • Provide People & Culture (HR) support to people across the business, with swift and effective resolutions to employee questions on all HR topics, and triage to functional HR experts as needed. Anticipate business needs, think proactively and respond appropriately.
  • Partner with the Senior People and Culture Business Partner to support business leaders and specialists in People & Culture to run all key people processes (performance management, annual performance reviews, compensation planning, talent reviews, employee engagement and retention, and more).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business function that you support.
  • Coach employees to assist them in their development, career planning and resolving challenges.
  • Maintain and update data within our HR systems and help to produce and update our data & analytics metrics dashboard, ensuring a high degree of accuracy. Consult with clients (HRBP, Tech Leaders, the Business) to understand and anticipate reporting and metrics needs, design effective solutions, provide insights from metrics and determine needs for reporting dashboards, in order to mitigate risk and improve culture. Use data to identify trends in employee related issues, turnover and performance trends and provide perspective to solutions for the business.
  • Partner with your clients and stakeholders in People & Culture on projects.
  • Build compliance into all we do, including maintaining in depth knowledge of company policy and processes and legal requirements, helping with running various audits and reports. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation, with a critical eye towards developing new, clarifying existing and sunsetting outdated policies as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • BA/BS degree preferably in Business or HR
  • 3+ years of People / HR experience or PHR certification with some experience directly supporting employees as a HR Partner
  • Autonomous, confident, curious, and flexible
  • Capable of developing relationships with business partners, cross-functional partners and leaders to gain trust and buy in.
  • Effective communicator. Clearly outlines issues and articulates solutions.
  • Risk mitigation mindset. Understanding of labor/law practices in CA, HI and/or Washington State. Experience with workplace investigations (ER).
  • Empathetic and engaging. You connect well with employees and understand their needs. You have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Solutions-driven and detail focused. You believe there’s a way you can solve any challenge. You understand and are energized by the impact of ensuring employee needs are constantly met. You take pride in delivering timely and thorough service with outstanding follow-up, and are laser focused on execution.
  • Integrity. You understand how to handle confidential information and sensitive issues.
  • Agile. Ability to operate in ambiguity, and manage your workload. You can independently prioritize and ensure all needs are met. You keep calm even when there’s a lot to do.
  • This role is onsite based out of our HQ

The base pay range for this position is $80,00-$90,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
