Senior Manager, National Events

Compass seeks a Senior Manager of National Events to join the team and lead our national event strategy and initiatives. You will plan, develop, scale, and execute national events in this role. You will work collaboratively with the industry’s best in-house product marketing team, creative studio, and communications team to coordinate event details from the invitation aesthetic to the itinerary and day of production and how we communicate the event to drive awareness and attendance.

You will actively manage a team, source and manage vendors such as rentals, florists, food/beverage, lighting, and AV before each event. This person should have deep experience with negotiations, client management, technical understanding, and advanced taste and aesthetic qualities to ensure a premier level with all events.

Event programs will range from small-scale intimate client events to large-scale multi-day national conferences in various markets for 2000+ agents with a unique offering of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and workshops, all company meetings, and networking events.

At Compass You Will:

  • Plan, develop and execute small scale and large scale national events
  • Liaise and collaborate with executives, marketing, creative, communications, legal, HR, product, agent operations, finance, and product marketing teams
  • Develop a clear and effective registration process that delivers attendance results flawlessly
  • Lead and develop the careers of our events team members
  • Develop event programming strategy to drive excitement and ticket sales
  • Oversee event website, emails, and registration system
  • Review and secure locations, venues, vendors, industry events and provide recommendations
  • Provide detailed post-event reports by conducting surveys, gathering stakeholder feedback, and creating action plans around improvement following all activations.
  • Pre-production event management includes coordinating speaker details, rehearsal schedules, session flow, travel schedules, presentations, and more
  • Measure and optimize the effectiveness and impact of events
  • Oversee and manage business model and budgets
  • Source and secure sponsorships, both in kind and monetary
  • Evangelize events and performance internally to all key stakeholders
  • Maintain excellent rapport with external groups (vendors, etc) in order to maximize efficiency and leverage in multiple markets
  • Lead onsite event design and execution
  • Create content strategy for large-scale (2,000+ attendee) events
  • Field and streamline national event support requests from various regions
  • Review and manage vendor and venue contracts
  • Set up meetings with potential speakers, thought leaders, facilitators, and any other talent required to ensure a successful event. Manage all communications and production details with talent or representatives throughout the process

What We’re Looking For:

  • A minimum of 10 years of Event Planning/Design experience
  • Experiencing managing a team of 3 or more
  • Experience reporting to and working closely with C-Suite
  • Ability to work independently, taking ownership of operations and execution
  • Experience producing large-scale conferences that require logistical excellence
  • Eye for design and spatial awareness that enables you to build out the aesthetic of an event of any kind
  • Experience with the operational and technical production of large-scale events including a solid understanding of conference AV needs, sourcing adequate power, optimal staging for live and recorded audiences, crowd control strategies for registration, and overall event flow
  • Adept project manager; impeccable time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team and cross-functionally with other departments
  • Must be comfortable conversing with vendors over the phone and face-to-face with continuous follow-up
  • Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to constantly multi-task and work well under intense timelines
  • Skilled communicator with great interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized
  • Understanding of marketing strategy and planning with the ability to identify the right fit for sponsorships
  • A unique skill set that combines an extremely detailed person with an eye for design and a keen understanding of how great visuals can elevate an event concept to the next level
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience working with the following is a plus:
    • Client or account service environment
    • Experience working in real estate marketing, and/or at a luxury brand
    • Experience working with CVENT management system
  • Proficient in the suite of office tools from Apple, Google and Microsoft Excel
  • This is an onsite role at our HQ in NYC or in other cities with a Compass Office (Denver, Seattle, or Chicago)

The base pay range for this position is $97,700-$146,600 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package and a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
