Compass seeks a Sr. Manager of National Events to join the team and lead our national event strategy and initiatives. In this role you will plan, develop, scale, and execute national events. You will work collaboratively with the industry’s best in-house product marketing team, creative studio and communications team to coordinate event details from the invitation aesthetic to the itinerary and day of production, as well as how we communicate the event to drive awareness and attendance.

You will actively manage a team, source and manage vendors such as rentals, florists, food/beverage, lighting, and AV prior to each event. This person should have deep experience with negotiations, client management, technical understanding and advanced taste and aesthetic qualities to ensure a premier level with all events.

Event programs will range from small scale intimate client events to large scale multi day national conferences in various markets for 2000+ agents with a unique offering of keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, all company meetings, and networking events.

At Compass You Will:

  • Plan, develop and execute small scale and large scale national events
  • Liaise between marketing, creative, communications, recruiting, HR, product, agent operations, finance, and product marketing teams
  • Communicate nationally with all Compass offices to ensure sufficient lead times
  • Develop a clear and effective registration process that delivers on attendance results flawlessly
  • Source a new registration system that delivers on Compass specifications
  • Manage an events team of at least 2 people
  • Develop event programming that will drive excitement and ticket sales. This may range from external speakers to driving the content strategy for internal speakers
  • Plan itinerary of National Summit consisting of multiple events across multiple days
  • Ability to plan events from afar
  • Create and maintain event website, emails, and registration system Bizzabo or similar system
  • Evaluate locations, venues, vendors, industry events and provide recommendations
  • Provide detailed post-event reports by conducting surveys, gathering stakeholder feedback and creating action plans around improvement following all activations
  • Work with Product Marketing stakeholders to develop content featured at the events to meet platform adoption goals
  • Pre-production event management including coordinating speaker details, rehearsal schedules, session flow, travel schedules, presentations and more
  • Measure effectiveness of National Agent Retreats in terms of referrals, recruiting, overall attendance, product adoption, and other key identified metrics such as attendance, impressions and reach
  • Contribute to developing business model and budget around national events
  • Source and secure sponsorships, both in kind and monetary
  • Work with the Product team to assure all integrations with the site are effective prior to each event to help handle tracking of attendees, etc
  • Evangelize events and performance internally to all key stakeholders
  • Maintain excellent rapport with external groups (vendors etc) in order to maximize efficiency and leverage in multiple markets
  • Manage budgets and create tracking spreadsheets for various needs related to events to ensure we remain at or below budget
  • Lead onsite event design
  • Set-up meetings with potential speakers, thought leaders, facilitators and any other talent required to ensure a successful event and manage all communications and production details with talent or representatives throughout the process

What We’re Looking For:

  • A minimum of 10 years of Event Planning/ Design experience
  • Experiencing managing a team of 3 or more
  • Experience reporting into and working closely with C-Suite
  • Ability to work independently, taking ownership over operations and execution
  • Experience producing large scale conferences that require logistical excellence
  • Eye for design and spatial awareness that enables you to build out the aesthetic of an event of any kind
  • Ability to understand and digest the needs of an event and build your vision from the ground up
  • Experience with the operational and technical production of large scale events including a solid understanding of conference AV needs, sourcing adequate power, optimal staging for live and recorded audiences, crowd control strategies for registration and overall event flow
  • Adept project manager; impeccable time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team and cross functionally with other departments
  • Must be comfortable conversing with vendors over the phone and face to face with continuous follow-up
  • Must be a self-motivated team player that is able to constantly multi-task and work well under intense time-lines
  • Skilled communicator with great interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized
  • Understanding of marketing strategy and planning with the ability to identify the right fit for sponsorships
  • A unique skill set that combines an extremely detailed person with an eye for design and the keen understanding of how great visuals can elevate an event concept to the next level
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience working in a client or account service environment a plus
  • Experience working in real estate marketing, and/or at a luxury brand a plus
  • Experience working with Bizzabo management system a plus
  • Proficient in the suite of office tools from Apple, Google and Microsoft Excel
  • This is an onsite role at our HQ in NYC

The base pay range for this position is $102,900-$154,300 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
