About Our Client

Vamos Ventures is a venture fund with a mission to invest in companies led by diverse teams. The firm believes that diverse teams, defined as having at least one co-founder from an underrepresented background, lead to better returns.

Vamos Ventures has a dual objective:

  1. Deliver market-rate returns
  2. Generate social impact through wealth creation, social mobility, and innovative tech solutions.

The Scout Program is designed as a 3-5 hour per week commitment, not a full-time position. This program aims to cultivate the next generation of venture capital investors, providing them with ownership over deals, access to resources, and structured training.

The firm seeks motivated, passionate professionals with an interest in one of Vamos Ventures’ core sectors:

  • Health & Wellness
  • Future of Work
  • FinTech
  • Sustainability

Scouts will be aligned with one of five key metro areas:

  • Portland, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Houston, or Dallas.
  • Candidates must reside in one of these cities.

Program Benefits & Structure

While this is not a full-time role, Scouts will have the opportunity to build their track record in venture capital. They will be provided with community support, programming, and training, gaining exposure to the VC ecosystem and participating in team deal meetings. Scouts will receive compensation only for deals they source that result in an investment from Vamos Ventures. Scouts will receive initial training on the fund’s investment mandate, criteria, and goals, ensuring they invest their resources efficiently. The program also includes multi-week training covering early-stage investing fundamentals, such as:

  • Thesis & Sector Deep Dives
  • Pitching & Sourcing
  • Deal & Team Diligence
  • Investment Memos
  • Financial & Investment Analysis

For promising investment opportunities, Scouts will work alongside the Vamos Ventures team to:

  • Conduct diligence
  • Complete investment memos
  • Pitch to the investment committee

To support deal flow, Scouts will be encouraged to organize local ecosystem events. Upon completion of the program, Scouts will have broad latitude in identifying, evaluating, and engaging compelling investment opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency in the metro area they are applying for (Portland, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Houston, or Dallas).
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in entrepreneurship, tech, startups, or accelerator programs.
  • Deep knowledge and passion for at least one of the firm’s sector focus areas (Health & Wellness, Future of Work, FinTech, Sustainability).
  • Commitment to increasing diverse representation in the venture capital community.
  • Bandwidth to dedicate 3-5 hours per week to the program (workload may vary based on deals moving forward into diligence).
  • Willingness to attend local ecosystem events.
  • No existing scout or advisory commitments with other funds.
